Japan Game Awards 2019 results announced, Smash Bros. Ultimate Dominates
This week plays host to the Japan Game Awards, an awards ceremony which celebrates the Japanese gaming industry's biggest and brightest stars and international hits, too.
The full lineup of this year's Game of the Year awards has now been revealed, as well as the ceremony's prestigious Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. Over the 4 days in Tokyo Game Show 2019, different awards and categories are given out to the best of the best.
Nintendo with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate dominated the award show winning 4 of the 5 "Game of the Year Division" awards and the "The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award." Nintendo Labo was also given the Special Award from the "Game of the Year Division" for finding "new way(s) to enjoy games using hardware features."
From the "Game of the Year Division", Super Smash Bros. Ultimate won the The Grand Award, The Best Sales Award, and the Global Award Japanese Product. The game was also given an Award for Excellence alongside 10 other titles, including: KINGDOM HEARTS III, Marvel's Spider-Man, JUDGMENT, and others.
