Fortnite 9.40 Update Reveals Some New Features Coming

Here is all the Fortnite 9.40 Update information, which is available now for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch on July 17.

Previously, Fortnite update 9.30 was released with new limited time mode, bug fixes and more. Unfortunately, since the last patch, some players being unable to collect coins or use items in the Downtown Drop LTM. Today's Fortnite version 9.40 is expected to address a few of these issues.

Fortnite prepares for the end of Season 9. Not only are players constantly searching for the very latest Fortbytes, but also waiting for the 9.40 update. Now, through the Twitter page of a well-known leaker, we have the chance to discover one of the upcoming features.

Epic Games has revealed that Epic and Legendary variants of the tactical shotgun will soon enter the loot pool. The new weapons are expected to be similar to the standard semi-automatic shotguns already available in the game. "Get up close and personal with the new Epic and Legendary variants of the Tactical Shotgun!" reads the in-game newsfeed.

But beyond this we don't know much more. There's no stats for the weapon yet, so we need to wait for the release of the new 9.40 update and patch notes, likely coming to the game on Wednesday.That said, we can already see it being quite popular at the Fortnite World Cup Finals in a few weeks time.

While the exact contents of the upcoming changes for the popular battle royale game are not yet known, the community does know that a highlight of these changes will be the addition of the new Tactical Shotgun. However, with a plethora of shotguns already in the game, it remains to be seen if the Tactical Shotgun is received positively or negatively when it arrives in the Fortnite 9.40 update patch notes.

Fortnite's Week 10 challenges arrived on all platforms last week, which means we're quickly nearing the end of Season 9. Epic typically caps off each season of the game with a big world-changing the event, and it appears one may happen this weekend. Dataminers have recently discovered evidence that a large battle between the monster formerly beneath Polar Peak and the giant robot being assembled at the Pressure Plant will kick off in the game on July 20.
