Giant Pink Robot and a Mysterious Countdown Appears in Fortnite Ahead of Season 10

We are about to usher in the end of Fortnite Season 9, which can only mean one thing, another large-scale live broadcast is coming soon. In the past week or so, in the early part of the Season 10, a giant pink robot has slowly assembled in a now dormant volcano.

New parts for the giant robot turned up every other day, and the bot is now complete. Reports indicate that the robot will fight the creature that is codenamed "Cattus" in Fortnite game files that have surfaced. The creature the robot will fight is near Loot Lake, and the fight is supposedly going down on Saturday, July 20.

Fortnite Giant Pink Robot

As you can tell from the image, the robot looks to be heavily inspired by Voltron, with various Fortnite-themed mascots making up its head and arms. Alongside the robot, an in-game countdown has appeared, with clocks appearing at the floating sky platforms found in the game. The countdowns all end on Saturday, July 20 at 2 pm EST, which is likely when the next live event will take place.

Whatever ends up happening, these kinds of world-changing events are becoming the norm for Fortnite, particularly when it comes time to kick off a new season. Previous events have included a dramatic rocket launch, an in-game Marshmello concert, a rolling purple cube that opened a portal to a different dimension, and a massive snowstorm created by an undead ice king. With giant robots and monsters, the latest is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

Beside the robot, and in several other locations around the game, is a floating timer counting down to 7pm BST on Saturday, 20 July. While there are certainly mysteries yet to be unveiled about what exactly is going to happen when the countdown ends, we actually ahve quite a bit of information about what's going to happen. So don't read on if you want to be surprised. And that's the conflict: Doggus vs. Cattus, a colossal battle on a scale that the game has never seen before. It's still unclear whether players will be able to play an active role in this conflict or whether we'll just be cheerleaders, but we do know that we'll be able to equip special banners to show our support, and thanks to the new "banner brigade" skins, we'll be able to wear those banners on our characters, as well. The whole thing will go down in an LTM on Saturday in much the same way as recent events like the Marshmello concert and the Unvaulting/Volcano thing.

It is not clear what the robot might be used for. While robots may not have a specific purpose at all, or are used as a tool to destroy parts of the island, there may be a simpler answer. Maybe this robot will fight the monsters Cattus for most of the season. If the monster comes to land and the robot is there to meet him, it can create exciting conflicts and destroy the portion of the map that Epic wants to rebuild in the season 10.
