FIFA 20 New Gameplay Trailer Brings A Set Piece System, Improved 1v1s, and Much More

FIFA 20 brings more 1v1 opportunities, a set-piece refresh, composed finishing, better defending, and, of course, new "ball physics" to the gameplay table

The big addition to EA's FIFA 20 is the all-new Volta mode that evokes the old FIFA Street games. However, with many fans less than satisfied by the gameplay tweaks made in last year's iteration, but developer EA Vancouver assures fans that it is also working on gameplay aspects for the latest installment of the series. This new trailer doesn't have everything, but it does show the team is trying to move the franchise in what looks like a fun, realistic direction. Today's new trailer showcases some of what we can expect on this front.

While none of the features in the trailer above are new in the sense that they've never been included in some form or another in previous iterations, if done right these gameplay aspects of FIFA 20 could improve the experience from last year.

In the short video posted above, we can see some star players, such as Raheem Sterling, Mohamed Salah, Jadon Sanch and so on, showing some of the latest moves and features.

In some cases last year, ai defenses in online games were considered too strong, so this year's overall improvement in defensive ai could address that. Fans can expect new changes to set-pieces, controlled tackling, strafe dribbling, composed finishing, and much more. In terms of graphics, it remains very similar to its FIFA 19 predecessor.

The changes to the set piece system. You'll now be able to line up a target with a reticule and then use the right stick to give the ball curve, dip, or make it knuckle. These changes should, at the very least, make you feel like you have more control over the ball in crucial set pieces. 

Additionally players can enjoy more control over the decisive moments, along with more dynamic one-on-ones and natural player movements. EA is also trying to increase the number of 1v1 opportunities you encounter during the game. Improved ball physics will also create more realistic ball movements, bounces and shots. FIFA 20 will release for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch on September 27. FIFA 20: Legacy Edition is out on Nintendo Switch that same day. Pre-order early access starts on September 24, while EA Play members will be able to start playing from September 19.
