Tencent's mobile game PUBG Mobile overseas download broke 400 million, DAU reached 50 million on June 18th, 2019.

As per the reports, PUBG Mobile earned $146 million worldwide barring China last month. The game’s friendlier version ‘Game for Peace’ is also expected to earn huge revenue for Tencent in China. Ever since its release, PUBG has enjoyed an immense amount of success across all markets. It broke seven Guinness World records last year including “most actively played game on Steam’ and ‘fastest time to sell 1 million units for a Steam Early Access game’.

It is worth mentioning that Games for Peace and PUBG Mobile's estimated total revenue in the global App Store and Google Play in May reached 146 million US dollars (about 1 billion yuan). The Games for Peace iOS version and PUBG Mobile earned $70 million (48%) and $76 million (52%) respectively. Compared with the $65 million created by the PUBG Mobile game in April, it is 126% higher; compared to the $57 million created by PUBG Mobile last May, it is nearly 26 times higher.

On the platform side, Google’s platform contributed $45.3 million in revenue, accounting for 31% of total revenue, while the remaining $101 million came from Apple stores. In addition, last month, users of the global App Store and Google Play spent an average of $4.8 million on these two versions each day.

Thanks to the success of domestic and overseas, the total revenue of the two editions of Game for Peace and PUBG Mobile in May was ranked TOP1 in the global mobile game revenue list. Compared with the second-ranked The Glory of Kings earned nearly 125 million dollars (about 860 million RMB).

PUBG Mobile is one of the most played Mobile games in the world. With the mobile version of the game, PUBG easily defeated Fortnite in terms of the overall player count. It is expected to face challenges against Call of Duty Mobile once the latter rolls out the final version for the players. It will be interesting to see how PUBG counters their upcoming competition in the future. But for now, it is certainly ruling all record books.

Overall, during the month of May, thanks to the continued efforts of PUBG Mobile in overseas markets, Tencent still ranked among the top 3 distributors of Chinese publishers. Since 2019, "PUBG Mobile" has been getting better in overseas markets and has won the championship in the income list for five consecutive months. In the future, how long this success will last that will be worthy of attention.
